Thessaloniki, October 28th

Hoy ha sido nuestro último día en una gran ciudad. Además, ha coincidido con la fiesta nacional del 28 de octubre, un día muy especial para los griegos porque se conmemora el rechazo al ultimátum que el régimen fascista de Musolini dio a Grecia en 1940, y por ello se conoce como el Día del No. 

Hemos empezado la mañana con actividades en el instituto. Ha sido una mañana muy amena en la que los alumnos han trabajado en grupos hasta llegar al momento de la entrega de los diplomas. Ha sido muy emotivo ya que llegaba el momento de la despedida y los sentimientos estaban a flor de piel, pues los chicos han pasado una maravillosa semana y han consolidado amistades que esperemos que duren mucho tiempo. Los profesores hemos hecho una mesa redonda para cerrar esta semana de actividades y preparar la siguiente movilidad a Polonia.

Al acabar las actividades, las madres de los alumnos nos han obsequiado con un buffet con platos típicos que hemos degustado mientras charlábamos con los compañeros de los otros países, cosa que nos enriquece muchísimo como docentes.

Después de la comida, hemos bajado a la avenida principal para ver pasar la procesión con los grupos militares al frente y una exhibición espectacular de avionetas que por suerte hemos podido disfrutar.

Finalmente, nos hemos marchado a descansar antes de volver a reunirnos para cenar y despedirnos. Otro día maravilloso lleno de momentos únicos. ¿Gracias equipo griego!

Today has been our last day in this great coty. In addition, it has coincided with the national holiday of October 28, which is a very special day for the Greeks, since it commemorates the rejection of the ultimatum that Mussolin's fascist regime gave Greece in 1940. It is for this reason that this day is known as the Day of No.

We have started the morning with activities at the school. It has been very pleasant morning where the students have  worked in groups until reching the moment of the delivery of diplomas. It has been very emotional as it was time to say googby and feelings were on the surface, as students have spent a worderful week and have consolidated friendship that we hope will last for many years. We teachers, have held a round table to close the week activities and prepare for the next mobility in Poland.

At the end of the activities, the mothers of the students had prepared a delicious buffet for us with typical dishes that we tasted while chatting with partners from other countries which enriches us as teachers. After that, we went down to the main avenue since the procession was passing with the military groups in front and there was a spectacular exhibition of small planes thas luckily we have been able to enjoy. Once finished, we have gone  to rest for a while before meeting again to have dinner an saying goodby.

Another beautiful day full of unique moments. Thak you Greek team!

Thessaloniki, October 27th

 Hoy hemos ido a Kerkini, donde hemos realizado diversas actividades en el lago artificial formado en 1932 sobre un inmenso humedal tras la creación de una presa en el río Esterimón en la Unidad Periférica de Serres. Se trata de una zona bellísima, en la que hemos disfrutado de un paseo en bicicleta y otro en barca y las charlas de unos guías estupendos que nos han explicado la importancia del área para las aves como los pelícanos y flamencos. Después nos han llevado al Hotel Erodios, donde nos han tratado con una amabilidad exquisita y  hemos podido disfrutar o de una abundante comida tradicional. Finalmente, a la vuelta, nos han dejado en el centro de la ciudad para poder realizar algunas compras y disfrutar del ambiente animado propio de una víspera de día festivo puesto que es mañana es la fiesta nacional en la que se celebra la República Helénica.

Today we went to Kerkini, where we did various activities in the lake. It is an artificial lake formed in 1932 on a huge wetland after the creation of a dam on dthe Estrimón river in the Serres Pheripheral Unit. It is a beautiful area. We have alternated a bike ride with a boat one and wonderful guides have explanied to us the importance of the area for birds such as flamingos and pelicans. Afterthat, we have enjoyed a hearty traditional meal at the hotel Erodios, where we have been received with exquisite kindness. On the way back they left us in the city center to be able to do some shopping and enjoy the party atmosphere since tomorrow is the nacional holiday, the celebration of the hellenic republic. Everything was very lively. 

Thessaloniki, October 26th

 Today is the festival of Thessaloniki so we have gone to visit the sourrondings and learn a little more about the fauna of the area and other cities since everything in Thessaloniki is close. First, we went to Nimfaíon, where we have visited the town until it was time to visit the shelter for wild animals, including bears, run by the NGO Arcturos. Later, we have visited the town of Nereyda, where we have been able to taste some typical Greek dishes and desserts that were delicious. We have been commenting on the curiosities of the different educational systems of the participants countries which enriches our vision of education. 

Hoy es fiesta en Tesalónica y está todo cerrado por lo que hemos ido a visitar los alrededores para conocer un poco más la fauna de la zona. En primer lugar, hemos ido a Nimfaíon, donde hemos visitado el refugio de animales salvajes, entre ellos osos, que está a cargo de la ONG Arcturos. Después hemos visitado el pueblo de Nereyda y allí hemos degustado unos platos y postres típicos griegos deliciosos. Hemos estado comentando las semejanzas y diferencias entre los sistemas educativos de los países participantes en esta movilidad, lo que ha enriquecido nuestro conocimiento de la educación en Europa.

October 25th in Thessaloniki

 Today we have met at 8 in the school. A bus has taken us to the archaeological zone of Dion. Atter that, we have gon to Litohoro and to the town of Prionia. After taking a walk though this beautiful green area, we have hiked to the Olympus mountain canyon, the highest one in Greece with almost 3000 meters high. We have enjoyed spectaculars views. In the afternoon, we have visited Vergin. There, a fantastic guide has told us the history of the main kings buried in this place, in the museum of the royal tombs of Aigai. It has been a long and completed day in which we have learned many interesting things.

Hoy nos hemos encontrado en el instituto. Un autobús nos ha llevado a la zona arqueológica de Dio. Después hemos ido a Litohoro y a la ciudad de Priona. Tras dar un paseo por la preciosa área verde, hemos realizado una caminata hasta el cañón de la montaña Olympus, la más alta de Grecia, con casi 3000 metros de altitud y  donde hemos disfrutado de unas vistas espectaculares. Por la tarde, hemos visitado Vergin. Allí, una guía fantástica nos ha explicado la historia de los principales reyes enterrados en ese lugar, en el museo de las tumbas reales de Aigai. Ha sido un día largo y completo en el que hemos aprendido muchas e interesantes cosas.

Thessaloniki october 24th

First day of our Erasmus trip to Thessaloniki (Greece). After a small incident with the flights yesterday, today we have started the adventure with students from five more countries (Portugal, Finland, Italy, Poland and Greece). We have visited the historic center where the history of the city has been explained to us. We have met at the emblematic statue of Elefterios. From there we have walked to the Basilica of San Demetrio where a guide has received us to take us to see the ruins of the ancient Greek agora (Roman Forum). Afterwards, we have gone to the Arch and the Rotunda of Galerius. The students had a free alternoon to get to know each other better and, incidentally, pactice English.

Nuestro primer día de actividades en Tesalónica. Después del ajetreado viaje de ayer, hoy hemos empezado nuestra aventura en Grecia con profesores y alumnos de cinco países más: Portugal, Finlandia, Grecia, Polonia e Italia. Hemos visitado el centro histórico, donde nos han explicado la historia de la ciudad. Nos hemos encontrado en la emblemática estatua de Eleftherios. De allí hemos caminado hasta la Basílica de San Demetrio, donde un guía nos ha recibido para llevarnos a conocer las ruinas del antiguo ágora griego (Foro Romano). Desde allí hemos hemos ido al Arco y a la Rotonda  de Galerio. Los alumnos han tenido la tarde libre para conocerse mejor entre ellos y, de paso, practicar inglés.
